Proofreading...

A Sunset in Lubbock

During my trip to Lubbock for an interview, I had to proofread over my group lab report for Cell Biology.  As I looked over this lab report, I realized that it was my last major lab report I had for my undergraduate career (well, there is the SEM lab report, but still).  This realization got me thinking - how have I changed over the last three and a half years?

1. My quality of writing has changed dramatically.  Coming out of high school, I was afraid of the ten page essays that I'd need to write for English and such.  Such fears came to fruition when I had a group essay due during my freshman year biology class.  My portion of the essay was horrendous and needed to be corrected multiple times. Now, after reviewing my portion of the lab report I was proofreading, I realized how much I have matured in this aspect over the years.  This trait probably came from another quality I've gained over the years....

2. .... my ability to comprehend scientific literature. With the experience I've gained from molecular techniques, research with Dr. Simmons, and seminar, my ability to comprehend scientific literature has definitely grown.

I've realized that these traits will benefit me in the future because of the ever growing field of medicine. In order to be the best doctor I can be, I will need to keep up with the latest experiments in my field.  Because of St. Thomas, I feel that I am ready to handle whatever medical school puts in my way.  Now, all I need to do is wait another several months.
